The Auckland Town Hall Organ Trust
The Auckland Town Hall Organ Trust was originally formed in 2004 to oversee and raise funds for the reinstatement of the organ in the style as originally gifted to Auckland City by Sir Henry Brett.
The Trust Deed states that the Auckland City Council recognises the musical, aesthetic and heritage value of the organ and the need for its management and care, as well as its use. The Deed also sets out the objectives of the Trust, which include:
- The provision of the Organ for free public concerts each year, in accordance with the wishes of the original donor, Sir Henry Brett, who donated the entire amount required to build the original 1911 organ;
- Development of the accompaniment role of the Organ in musical events such as school festivals, citizenship ceremonies and orchestral concerts;
- Furthering the musical education of organ students.
The Auckland Town Hall Organ Trust was incorporated on 17 October 2004, and is registered as a charity with
New Zealand Charities Services. Our registration number is CC30369.
