About the Organist

Dr Kemp English is one of the gems of the organ concert stage. Although based in New Zealand, he is much in demand as a solo organist, collaborative pianist and specialist fortepiano exponent worldwide, relishing the opportunity to work in a diverse array of styles and periods. He is an honours graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance from the University of York and PhD from the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide. For eleven years he was Dunedin City Organist and Executant Lecturer in Performance at the University of Otago. He has made many recordings,&nbsp;been nominated for &lsquo;Best Classical Album&rsquo; in the NZ Music Awards and features regularly on Radio New Zealand, the ABC, BBC Radio, Classic FM UK and USA radio networks.

About the Organist

Dr Indra Hughes is widely recognized as one of the most distinguished musicians working in New Zealand today. He received his early training at the Cathedral in Blackburn, Lancashire, and at Oriel College, Oxford, where he was Organ Scholar.

As an organ recitalist Indra has played in many significant venues around the world, including Westminster Abbey, and directed the music for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on three occasions, including the service of thanksgiving for the opening of the completed Cathedral in Auckland in 1995.

As a member of the Town Hall Organ Advisory Committee, Indra was closely involved in the project to design and install the 2010 Klais organ in Auckland Town Hall. Indra was one of the organists at the opening concert in March 2010, and gave one of the four official inaugural recitals on the new organ. Since then, he has given more public concerts on the Town Hall organ than any other organist. In June 2012 Indra was elected National President of the New Zealand Association of Organists. He lives in Huia, a small seaside community in west Auckland, where he has served as Co-President of the Huia-Cornwallis Ratepayers and Residents Association.

About the Organist

Erik Wm. Suter, a native of Chicago, is a musician of international acclaim. For nearly 10 years, he served as organist at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC. He holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and Yale University, where he studied with Haskell Thomson and Thomas Murray, respectively. Previously, he held positions at Trinity Church, Copley Square, and at the Parish of All Saints, both in Boston; and at Trinity Church-on-the-Green in New Haven, Connecticut. Mr Suter is also a commercial airline pilot and flight instructor, in addition to maintaining a busy concert career.
